Iran is considering imposing a toll on the Strait of Hormuz.
Countries are obliged to pay duties to ensure the safe passage of their ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian parliament member Somayah Rafaiy announced that legislators are considering a proposal to impose a toll on the Strait of Hormuz. The BBC reported on this.
According to the proposal, if the Strait of Hormuz is used to ensure the safe passage of ships, energy transit, and food security, countries will be obligated to pay fees and taxes to Iran.
The ISNA news agency reported that Rafaiy, at a public gathering in Tehran's Valiasr Square, emphasized Iran's "authority to ensure the security of the Strait of Hormuz and protect national interests."
"We have deprived our enemies of their previous conveniences; they do not have the patience to endure this situation. God willing, this war will end with Iran's confident and decisive victory. After that, passage through the Strait of Hormuz will continue to create difficulties for our enemies," said Rafaiy.
This proposal is being evaluated as a significant measure reflecting Iran's political strategy to control global transit and energy routes in the region.
