In some universities in Uzbekistan, 70% of students have failed to meet physical fitness standards.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed rectors to develop a one-year specific plan for sports.

At a videoconference meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, it was criticized that work in the sports direction in higher education institutions is insufficient.
It was reported that cooperation with sports federations in universities is weak, and a system for individual work with talented students has also not been adequately established.
At the same time, some higher education institutions also have positive experiences. In particular, Termez State University has organized 4 sports clubs, involving 5,000 students in 18 sports. Last year, students won 18 medals in international competitions. The university's volleyball and handball teams participate in the top league, while its futsal and football teams compete in the first league.
However, the situation remains unsatisfactory in some universities. For example, at Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute, the Termez branch of Tashkent Medical University, Karshi State Technical University, and Bukhara State University, nearly 70% of students are unable to pass physical fitness standards. This indicates that the activities of sports clubs in these universities are ineffective.
In this regard, the rectors of 207 universities have been tasked with studying the experience of Termez State University and developing a one-year plan for sports.
