The "Askiya" farmers market in Tashkent city has been temporarily closed due to gross violations of fire safety regulations. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported this.
It was reported that state fire inspections were carried out in a number of markets in the capital. As a result, serious deficiencies were identified in some commercial facilities, and areas that did not meet safety requirements were temporarily disconnected from the power supply.
In particular, violations of fire safety regulations were identified in certain areas of the "Navro'z" farmers market in Mirzo Ulug'bek district, the Midstroy service LLC and the "Qo'yliq" construction market in Bektemir district, the Tashkent trade center LLC and the "Abu Saxiy" market in Chilanzar, as well as the "Farhod" farmers market in Uchtepa district, and certain areas, places where deficiencies were found, were temporarily disconnected from electricity. Furthermore, nine blocks of the "O'rikzor" shopping complex were also disconnected from electricity.
The "Askiya" farmers market located in Yakkasaroy district has been completely disconnected from the power supply and its operations have been temporarily suspended because its overall condition does not meet safety requirements.
According to the Ministry, once the identified deficiencies are eliminated, the power supply will be restored to these facilities and operations will resume.
It is also noted that these measures are not intended to hinder business activities, but are aimed at preventing emergencies and ensuring a safe environment in crowded public places.
On April 8, similar inspections were carried out in major markets in Chilanzar, Shaykhantokhur, and Yashnabad districts, where deficiencies such as exposed electrical wires, faulty equipment, and non-functional fire extinguishing systems were identified. Based on these situations, certain areas were disconnected from the power supply.
It was emphasized that the inspections were intensified following the fire that occurred on April 5 at the "Beshqo'rg'on" market in Chilanzar district, and that such control measures will be carried out regularly throughout the year.
