We have set the goal of joining the ranks of countries with above-average income — Shavkat Mirziyoyev

Despite the global instability, Uzbekistan's economy achieved 8.7 percent growth according to the results of the first quarter of 2026. The Presidential Press Service reports on this.

As President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized, improving the living standards of the population is defined as a priority direction in the ongoing reforms. In recent years, the incomes of 8.5 million needy people have been increased, and the poverty rate has been reduced from approximately 35 percent to 5.8 percent.

It is noted that Uzbekistan is among the five countries that have achieved the most significant positive changes in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals over the past decade.

Furthermore, it is planned to increase the economy's volume to over 240 billion dollars by 2030 through the transition of all sectors to a technological and innovative growth model. The goal is to elevate the country to the ranks of upper-middle-income states and completely eradicate poverty.

"As a result, we aim to join the ranks of upper-middle-income countries and completely eradicate poverty," said the President.

The head of state also announced that in the coming days, a 30 percent stake in the "National Investment Fund," which includes the assets of 13 major strategic enterprises, will be placed on the international stock market.

According to him, this step will serve to further strengthen confidence in the country's investment climate.
