The Moldovan parliament will abandon the use of the Russian language in its activities.
According to the document prepared by the ruling party, the Romanian language is designated as the sole working language of the parliament.

The Parliament of Moldova has approved a draft code on the organization and functioning of the legislative body. According to it, the use of the Russian language in parliamentary activities will be abolished. The "Unimedia" publication reported this.
In accordance with the document, the Romanian language is established as the sole working language of the parliament. Normative legal acts will be prepared and adopted in Romanian and, when necessary, translated into other languages.
This initiative was put forward by deputies of the ruling "Action and Solidarity" (PAS) party and is noted to be aimed at implementing the European Commission's recommendations on the enlargement of the European Union for 2023–2025.
PAS deputy Igor Talmazan stated that this decision entails the abolition of mandatory translation into Russian during the parliament's work process and the conduct of all official communication in the Romanian language.
Moldova intensified its European integration path after applying for European Union membership in 2022. In 2024, a referendum on joining the European Union was held in the country, which was supported by the majority of citizens.
It was also noted that Moldova has begun the process of withdrawing from the CIS. According to official information, after the relevant documents are annulled, the country is expected to legally exit the organization.
