President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on plans for further development of the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan here.
The presentation considered a number of initiatives to elevate the center's scientific-research and educational activities to a new level. In particular, it was announced that the introduction of an "Islamic Enlightenment" scholarship for master's and doctoral students studying in the religious-educational field is planned.
Additionally, plans include including the center's scientific journal in the international Scopus and Web of Science databases, creating a unified integrated platform for scientific centers, and preparing a digital catalog of manuscripts.
In the area of returning cultural heritage, the issue of creating a permanent mechanism for identifying and repatriating unique artifacts related to Uzbekistan held in world auctions, museums, and private collections was also discussed.
Furthermore, plans are underway to hold the 1st International Islamic Forum on the theme "Islamic Civilization: The Path of Peace, Tolerance, and Knowledge," and to organize special presentations dedicated to the Center for Islamic Civilization and the scientific heritage of Imam Bukhari, Imam Maturidi, and Imam Tirmidhi within UN and UNESCO structures.
Instructions were given to organize center presentations in 55 countries, hold an international conference and exhibition on the theme "The Role of Women in Islam," and implement joint scientific-educational projects with the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, ICESCO, IRCICA, TURKSOY, and other international organizations.
Press tours, international media clubs, and media conferences will be organized to strengthen cooperation with foreign journalists and international media structures. Photo exhibitions, thematic presentations, and roundtable discussions will be held at diplomatic missions abroad to strengthen the center's brand on a global scale.
Also considered were issues of creating more favorable conditions for pilgrims and tourists visiting the Imam Bukhari Memorial Complex, organizing visits in an orderly and meaningful manner, and improving the provision of information and guide services to them.
According to data, as of June 1, nearly 500,000 local and foreign guests had visited the Center for Islamic Civilization, which began its operations in March of this year.
The President emphasized that the center must become a prestigious venue showcasing the rich cultural heritage and enlightenment traditions of our people to the world, and gave relevant instructions to those responsible.
