A 10 trillion soum program will be developed to improve 400 mahallas in Tashkent

A 4-year, 10 trillion soum program will be developed to improve 400 mahallas in Tashkent city based on the example of the "Qichqiriq" mahalla. This was announced at a video conference meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

At the meeting, the work carried out in Olmazor district on the comprehensive development of mahallas and streets was also reviewed. Since the beginning of the year, 9 streets in the district have been transformed into areas attractive for business, residents, and tourists.

In particular, in a short time in Qichqiriq mahalla, a 450-seat kindergarten, sports grounds, a recreation area, an amphitheater, pedestrian walkways, and fountains were built. As a result, living and recreation conditions for 5,500 residents were improved.

Expanding this experience, it was designated to begin similar work on 8 more streets in Olmazor, and at least 3–4 streets in each of the capital's remaining 11 districts.

Also, 1 trillion soum has been allocated for the comprehensive renewal of 100 streets in Tashkent city.

It was emphasized that it is necessary to clearly determine which street and mahalla in each district, when and what changes will be implemented, and these plans must be discussed in local councils and publicly announced to residents.

At the meeting, the issue of comprehensively developing the historical part of the capital — the Old City area — was also discussed. A task was given to develop a unified concept and a concrete portfolio of projects for the development of the area by November 1, involving foreign companies.

In addition, attention was focused on the issue of effective use of buildings belonging to state agencies in Tashkent. Currently, there are 497 administrative buildings in the capital with a total area of 765 thousand square meters.

It was noted that it is necessary to optimally place state organizations and establish trade, service, private healthcare, and educational services in vacant and inefficiently used areas.

Responsible officials were tasked with conducting an inventory of state agency buildings and organizing practical work on leasing suitable areas to entrepreneurs on guaranteed terms for the long term.
