Address of the participants of the 1st International Forum on Islamic Civilization to His Excellency Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan
The participants expressed their hope that the decisions adopted at the forum will serve to strengthen mutual understanding, justice, and cooperation among the peoples of the world.

Dear Your Excellency Mr. President!
We, the participants of the First International Forum of Islamic Civilization – representatives of influential international organizations, heads of scientific and educational institutions from foreign countries, ministers, muftis, prominent scholars, universities, research institutes, libraries, museums, and cultural institutions from over fifty countries of the world – address you on their behalf with sincere gratitude and deep respect.
First of all, we would like to emphasize that the First International Forum of Islamic Civilization, held on your direct initiative and with your personal support, has become a major event of great significance and high recognition, surpassing the level of ordinary international scientific gatherings in its essence and importance.
Undoubtedly, the highly important thoughts and ideas put forward in your address to the Forum participants defined the scope, purpose, and meaning of the issues discussed at this conference, which was the focus of world public attention for four days.
We can confidently state that this forum, with the participation of representatives of advanced knowledge and enlightenment from the Muslim world, has launched a new stage of global cooperation aimed at studying, preserving, safeguarding, and widely promoting the rich heritage of Islamic civilization as an integral part of humanity's spiritual, cultural, and intellectual common wealth.
The holding of the conference in such historic cities of Uzbekistan as Tashkent, Samarkand, and Termez further enhanced its educational spirit and significance. It was in these blessed lands that great scientific schools were formed over the centuries, and fundamental works were created that gave a powerful impetus to the development of theology, philosophy, medicine, mathematics, astronomy, and other sciences. Noble ideas and discoveries that had a tremendous impact on the progress of all humanity also spread throughout the world from these very cities.
Today, we acknowledge with special gratitude that the noble initiative put forward by you in September 2017 at the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly to establish the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, as one of the most important international humanitarian initiatives of the last decade, became a turning point in understanding the great history and culture of this land as a holistic educational phenomenon. This historic event created broad opportunities for uniting the international scientific community in a new interpretation and promotion of the incomparable contribution of Islamic civilization to the development of world science, culture, and spirituality, and was an important step towards building the intellectual and spiritual foundations of the New Renaissance period – the Third Renaissance.
Today, we also deeply realize that this initiative was a timely and effective response to modern threats and dangers. At a time when attempts are being made in various parts of the world to distort the humane essence of Islam, to pit cultures and civilizations against each other, and to belittle the great contribution of Muslim scholars to the development of world science and culture, you proposed a constructive path based on enlightenment, scientific thought, respect for historical truth, and the re-presentation of the true heritage of Islamic civilization to the world community. Thus, a significant step forward was taken towards restoring historical justice, strengthening the culture of open scientific dialogue, and developing mutual respect and international humanitarian cooperation.
It should be noted that today these noble aspirations are acquiring particular global significance. Indeed, it is the unification of knowledge, historical memory, and the intellectual potential of peoples that serves to strengthen mutual trust between states, effectively combat extremism, radicalism, and intolerance, deepen mutual understanding between civilizations, and create a solid spiritual foundation for peace, sustainable development, and creativity.
Your Address, embodying such relevant thoughts, will undoubtedly remain a great historical and programmatic document for our future joint activities.
We all see that the Center for Islamic Civilization, which is the product of the high will and wisdom characteristic of the President of Uzbekistan, and the ability to see history, the present day, and the future as a single process, is becoming not only a world-class modern scientific and educational complex but also an authoritative dialogue platform uniting various countries, international organizations, leading scholars, scientific institutions, universities, libraries, museums, and spiritual-educational centers for the implementation of joint projects aimed at studying, preserving, and widely promoting the invaluable heritage within this unique process. We are confident that in the coming years, this center will take its rightful place among the leading international centers in the field of humanities and will become a major cultural, educational, and training platform where new ideas, joint scientific research, and long-term international projects will be formed.
The large-scale reforms being implemented in the Republic of Uzbekistan for the preservation of spiritual, scientific, and cultural heritage have made a great impression on us. Unique institutions such as the Center for Islamic Civilization, the renewed Imam Bukhari Memorial Complex, the international research centers named after Imam Bukhari, Imam Moturidi, and Imam Termizi, the International Academy of Islamic Studies, and the Tashkent Islamic Institute named after Imam Bukhari are a vivid embodiment in practice of the consistent state policy being pursued in preserving historical memory, developing fundamental science, and strengthening international humanitarian cooperation.
In a word, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as one of the most ancient cradles of Islamic science, culture, and enlightenment, is today further strengthening its age-old position in humanitarian cooperation, scientific research, and dialogue between civilizations.
Dear Your Excellency Mr. President!
The holding of the First International Forum of Islamic Civilization under the motto "Peace, Tolerance, and Enlightenment" deserves special attention. These enduring values, embodying the humane essence of Islamic civilization and being closely interconnected, are of incomparable importance for today's modern world as well. This great heritage is an integral part of the cultural, spiritual, and intellectual wealth of all humanity. Naturally, this places a great responsibility on international organizations, states, the scientific community, and all people striving to strengthen peace, mutual understanding, and cooperation for its preservation, comprehensive study, and transmission to future generations.
We fully support the Declaration adopted following the Forum and the "roadmap" aimed at preserving, studying, and developing Islamic civilization as a solid foundation for long-term international cooperation. We sincerely hope that you will continue to lead and fully support efforts to implement the initiatives outlined therein, strengthen international cooperation, preserve our common spiritual heritage, and develop Islamic civilization in the cause of peace, enlightenment, and mutual understanding.
With the aim of implementing the Forum's decisions into practical life, we, in consultation with you, intend to put forward an initiative to establish the World Alliance for Islamic Civilization. We believe that the activities of this Alliance will serve to coordinate joint scientific research, train highly qualified specialists, develop academic exchanges, implement international publishing projects, preserve and widely promote examples of cultural heritage, and further strengthen humanitarian cooperation between states.
The decisions adopted during the Forum clearly confirm that this noble initiative, born on the land of Uzbekistan, is receiving broad international support and is becoming a common cause for the global scientific and spiritual community.
We once again declare our readiness to unite our intellectual, scientific, and spiritual potential in implementing these decisions, preserving the great heritage of Islamic civilization, and passing it on to future generations. We believe that these decisions, adopted on the ancient land of Uzbekistan, will serve as a solid foundation for a new stage of international cooperation in the study, preservation, and wide promotion of the heritage of Islamic civilization. In adopting this Address, we once again acknowledge the great collective responsibility we are assuming for the implementation of these decisions and express our readiness to always work side by side with you in the cause of peace, enlightenment, mutual respect, and the preservation of the great spiritual and intellectual heritage, which is an integral part of the wealth of all humanity.
Esteemed Your Excellency Mr. President!
We express our deep gratitude to you and, through you, to all the organizers of the Forum and the entire multi-ethnic people of Uzbekistan for the high-level organization of the First International Forum of Islamic Civilization and for your sincere hospitality.
We wish you, Your Excellency, robust health, family happiness, and even greater success in your most honorable and responsible activity of serving the people of Uzbekistan with devotion. We wish you success in your efforts to implement the New Uzbekistan Strategy, build the foundation of the Third Renaissance, and further strengthen the high standing, glory, and prestige of this blessed land as one of the world's leading centers for science, enlightenment, Islamic civilization, humanitarian cooperation, and dialogue between civilizations.
May Almighty Allah grant blessings and prosperity to your noble intentions and actions!
May the decisions adopted at the First International Forum of Islamic Civilization serve to strengthen mutual understanding, justice, and cooperation among the peoples of the world!
May the Lord of the Worlds grant peace, national unity, prosperity, and progress to the hardworking, hospitable, and noble people of Uzbekistan, the creator of a great three-thousand-year history and culture, may He increase their creative potential, and may He fulfill all their good intentions!
With deep respect,
