A paid electronic permit will be introduced for foreigners in Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan will gradually introduce mandatory paid electronic entry permits for foreign citizens who have the right to visa-free entry into the country starting November 1, 2026. Meduza reported on this.

 

The new procedure will also apply to citizens of Uzbekistan. 

 

The new Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) permit will be processed through the QazETA digital platform. The application must be submitted at least 72 hours before the trip. The permit is valid for 180 days and allows multiple entries into Kazakhstan during that period.

 

The fee for processing the permit through QazETA is expected to be 3,900 tenge (approximately 7 euros). When processed at the border, the fee will be 7,800 tenge (approximately 14 euros).

 

The new procedure will take effect gradually. Starting November 1, ETA will be mandatory for foreigners arriving in Kazakhstan by plane.

 

Starting November 15, the permit will be mandatory for those entering Kazakhstan by car or bus through border crossings with China, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

 

Starting November 30, the requirement will also apply to road border crossing points with Russia and Kyrgyzstan. From December 15, ETA will be mandatory for those arriving in Kazakhstan by train and sea transport.

 

For now, from August 25 to November 1, the system will operate in test mode, and during this period foreigners will be allowed into the country without a permit.

 

Kazakhstan's official QazETA platform notes that ETA is intended for citizens of countries with a visa-free regime. The platform also lists ID cards of citizens of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan among the accepted documents.
