A two-hour exchange of fire occurred on the India-Pakistan border.

An armed clash lasting two hours occurred in the Rajouri sector of Jammu and Kashmir, located on the Line of Control between India and Pakistan. RIA Novosti reported this, citing the NDTV channel in a report.

It was reported that Indian military personnel attempted to stop "terrorists" who were trying to illegally cross the border. As a result, a fierce exchange of fire broke out between the sides, lasting approximately two hours.

NDTV notes that this is the first major incident related to a violation of the ceasefire regime since the conclusion of India's "Sindur" military operation in May 2025. Nevertheless, small-scale skirmishes on the border have been observed several times during the intervening period.

Let us recall that tensions between India and Pakistan escalated again after a terrorist attack near the town of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir in April 2025. Following this, India launched Operation "Sindur," striking the "terrorist infrastructure" on Pakistani territory.

Four days after the operation began, the sides reached an agreement to cease military actions. However, in May 2026, the Chief of Staff of the Indian Army, Upendra Dwivedi, announced that preparations were underway to conduct Operation "Sindur 2.0" if necessary.
