Putin discussed the issue of ending the war in Ukraine with Trump's special envoys.

Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the issue of ending the war in Ukraine with US President Donald Trump's special envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, in Moscow. The meeting lasted more than three hours according to reports.

According to Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, the US representatives put forward a number of proposals on possible ways to resolve the conflict. However, he did not disclose the content of the proposals.

Putin, for his part, expressed confidence that Russia is achieving "real progress" on the battlefield and will achieve its goals in the war. He stressed that resolving the conflict requires eliminating "all of its root causes."

Ushakov reported that in addition to the situation in Ukraine, economic matters and potential major projects between Russia and the US were discussed during the negotiations. The Russian side assessed the meeting as "timely and very useful for both sides."

A White House representative also called the negotiations "substantive." According to him, next steps will be announced in the coming weeks.

After the negotiations, Witkoff and Kushner departed Moscow for Kyiv. They are expected to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Russia and Ukraine continue to hold sharply divergent positions on the terms for ending the war. Moscow demands that Ukraine fully hand over the four regions claimed by Russia and abandon its plans to join NATO. Kyiv, for its part, refuses to cede territories to Russia.
