Murder in Fergana: young man who killed his grandmother sentenced to 17 years

A young man and his accomplice who entered his grandmother's house in Baghdad district of Fergana region to steal money and valuables have been arrested.

It was learned that the deceased lived alone in a multi-story building. She lent money at interest, and her grandson was aware that there was a large amount of money in her house. The young man, who had previously been convicted twice for theft, planned to steal this money.

Two days before the crime, he summoned his peer who was working in Tashkent to Baghdad. After his accomplice arrived, they went to the deceased's house and observed the situation. However, due to the large number of people around, they did not carry out the plan that day.

The next day they went to the residence again. This time there was no one at home. The young men entered and began searching for money and valuables. At that moment, the deceased returned home and resisted them.

Her grandson struck his grandmother's chest with a kitchen knife he had brought with him. The woman sustained a severe injury and lost consciousness. The young men then took a gold chain, earrings, a car monitor, and 2 million soums in cash from the residence and left.

After that, the young man tried to hide the traces of the crime. He bought 10 liters of gasoline from a gas station and hid it near the house. At night, he returned to the residence, poured gasoline on various parts of the house and on his grandmother's body, and set it on fire. Then he locked the door and left the scene.

At the conclusion of the case considered in the Buvayda district court for criminal cases, the young man was found guilty of committing the crimes specified in Article 97, Part 2, Clause "p", Article 169, Part 2, Clause "g", and Article 173, Part 2, Clause "b" of the Criminal Code.
