"Why are they receiving monthly salaries" — President sharply criticized rectors

During a dialogue with youth held at the "Ko'ksaroy" residence, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev specifically focused on existing problems in the higher education system, particularly issues of education quality and graduate employment, and sharply criticized the performance of higher education institution leaders.

In his speech, the head of state raised the issue of accountability for rectors who have been working for several years but have not achieved sufficient results in providing employment for students. The President emphasized that ensuring future employment for every student studying at a university is an important task.

It was also reported that out of 157 higher education institutions in the country, only 12 are working with graduates based on practical projects, including directing over 100 students towards entrepreneurship through bank loans.

"Where are the other rectors looking? Why are they receiving a salary? Why, if they have a conscience, don't they deposit 50 percent of their salary into the treasury, for the state? We have lost our conscience too," said the head of state.
