Iran's new Supreme Leader will not last long without US approval — Trump
The U.S. President also emphasized that Iran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.

U.S. President Donald Trump made a statement regarding Iran's next Supreme Leader. In an interview with ABC News, he emphasized that Iran's leader must satisfy Washington.
"He will have to get our approval. If that doesn't happen, he won't remain in power for long. We don't want to be forced to revisit this issue every 10 years," said Trump.
The U.S. President noted that Iran's nuclear program is one of the key issues for Washington. According to him, the U.S. will not allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons and will strictly monitor security measures in this regard. Trump also did not rule out the possibility of sending special forces into Iranian territory to control the uranium-related situation if necessary.
The American leader also stated that if an acceptable candidate is chosen by Iran, he could approve even some candidates associated with the Tehran regime. "If it leads to choosing a good leader, I can do that. There are several people who meet that requirement," he said.
In Trump's opinion, Iran is trying to expand its influence in the region. He said Tehran "has planned to take over the entire Middle East," and emphasized that military operations carried out by the U.S. and Israel have served to stop such plans. At the same time, he could not give a specific timeline for how long the military operations would last but stated that U.S. forces are "acting faster than planned."
