Reports of acid clouds coming from Iran to Uzbekistan have been denied.

Various reports have circulated on social media about the possibility of acid clouds reaching Uzbekistan and other Central Asian countries from Iran. "Uzhydromet" stated that this information is not scientifically substantiated and that there is no such risk.

It is noted that acid rains form as a result of sulfur oxides (SO₂) and nitrogen oxides (NO₂) accumulating in the atmosphere over a long period and entering into a chemical reaction with water vapor in clouds. Such processes are mainly observed near large industrial areas and strong emission sources.

Experts emphasize that during the long-distance movement of air masses, the concentration of pollutants sharply decreases. This is caused by atmospheric turbulence, vertical mixing, and dry and wet deposition processes. Therefore, the formation of acid rain at a dangerous level thousands of kilometers from the source is almost impossible.

Furthermore, the formation of precipitation is mainly related to local cloud formation processes. That is, precipitation occurs due to water vapor and aerosols present in the atmosphere above the area.

According to meteorological observations and atmospheric air quality monitoring data from "Uzhydromet", there is no observed risk of acid clouds migrating to the territory of Uzbekistan or neighboring countries.

In this regard, experts called on mass media and social media users not to disseminate unverified information and to rely only on official sources. It was also reminded that the dissemination of false or unchecked information may lead to liability in accordance with current legislation.
