Trump ready to end war with Iran even if Strait of Hormuz is not opened — WSJ
Reopening the Strait of Hormuz may require extending the military operation.

Trump has told his aides that the U.S. is prepared to conclude military actions against Iran even if the Strait of Hormuz is not opened. This is reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing representatives of the presidential administration.
According to sources, in recent days, Trump and his advisors have concluded that an operation to open the Strait of Hormuz could take longer than four to six weeks. It is reported that the president wants the U.S.'s main objectives to be achieved, namely weakening the Iranian fleet and eliminating its missile program.
The publication wrote that Trump plans to gradually halt current military operations while simultaneously applying diplomatic pressure on Tehran to achieve the restoration of free trade.
Sources indicated that if this plan does not materialize, Washington will demand that its European and Gulf state partners take the lead in opening the strait.
"Trump and his team believe the Strait of Hormuz is far more important for Europe, the Middle East, and Asian countries than for the U.S. In recent weeks, administration officials in Washington have reached out to partners and allies, asking them to be prepared for negotiations or operations regarding opening the strait," the report states.
