A dangerous toxin has been detected in Nestle baby food in Armenia.

In Armenia, 9.7 tons of Nestlé baby food under the NAN brand were found to be hazardous and destroyed. The republic's Food Safety Inspectorate reported this.

According to the agency, the product was assessed as hazardous based on the results of laboratory tests conducted in Russia. During inspections, it was determined that the dry, instant, milk-based, and fermented milk-based baby food could contain the hazardous cereulide toxin. If it enters the body, it can cause symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea. This batch has been destroyed according to established procedures.

Earlier, in January 2026, Nestlé voluntarily recalled from the market in Russia some batches of dry milk and therapeutic formulas intended for children. This decision was explained by the possibility of the cereulide toxin also being present in raw materials received from an external supplier.

According to the company, the amount of this component was very small and the risk was of a potential nature. The product recall was carried out within the framework of the global risk reduction policy.

Earlier, rat poison was also found in HiPPO baby food. It was stated that the poison was detected from damaged packaging. Furthermore, the manufacturer of this food claimed that this incident was an act of sabotage.
