The Prime Minister of Israel will be arrested if he goes to Hungary.

As a member of the International Criminal Court, Hungary can arrest a wanted person if they enter the country's territory.

The Prime Minister of Israel will be arrested if he goes to Hungary.

Peter Magyar, who is expected to assume the position of Prime Minister of Hungary, announced that he will halt the country's process of withdrawing from the International Criminal Court (ICC). This was reported by Point.md.

It is reported that this process was previously initiated by the incumbent Prime Minister, Viktor Orbán.

Magyar stated that the "Tisza" government is firmly committed to stopping this process and ensuring Hungary remains a member of the ICC.

Commenting on the issue of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he said: "If a country is a member of the ICC and a person subject to an arrest warrant enters its territory, that person must certainly be arrested."

Magyar emphasized that he has communicated this position clearly to the Israeli Prime Minister and has "hidden nothing."

Earlier, Israel's ambassador to Hungary, Maya Kadosh, reported that Magyar had invited Netanyahu to Hungary by phone. According to her, Netanyahu and Magyar had a "warm conversation" and the Israeli Prime Minister accepted the invitation.

Magyar, however, explained to journalists that after his electoral victory, he had invited "all state leaders" he had communicated with to the 70th anniversary of the 1956 revolution.

In November 2024, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and then Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes in the Gaza sector.

One day later, Viktor Orbán invited Netanyahu to Hungary, guaranteeing he would not be arrested, and called the ICC decision "thoughtless, hypocritical, and completely unacceptable." Netanyahu visited Hungary in April 2025.

In April 2026, the Orbán administration announced the start of Hungary's process of withdrawing from the ICC's jurisdiction. In June, the country sent an official notification of withdrawal to the UN Secretary-General.

On April 12, in the parliamentary elections held in Hungary, the "Tisza" party led by Peter Magyar won, securing a constitutional majority. Thus, Viktor Orbán, who had been Prime Minister for 16 years, will leave this position.
