Shavkat Mirziyoyev discussed issues of expanding ecological cooperation with UNEP.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme, Inger Andersen, on the sidelines of the Regional Environmental Summit taking place in Astana. The President's press service reported on this.
It was reported that the main directions of cooperation in the fields of environmental protection, sustainable development, and combating climate issues were reviewed.
It was noted that mutual cooperation is consistently developing, including on issues of preparing national environmental reports, improving the environmental monitoring system, and strengthening institutional capacity.
The Executive Director highly evaluated the national projects being implemented in Uzbekistan, such as "Green Space," "Biomeros," "Clean Air," "Waste-Free Area," and "Eco-culture." Their importance in ensuring ecological sustainability and improving the quality of life of the population was noted.
Inger Andersen also expressed readiness to expand practical partnership for the implementation of the initiatives put forward by the President of Uzbekistan at today's summit.
