US President Donald Trump announced the start of a special operation aimed at safely escorting foreign ships stranded in the Strait of Hormuz reported.
In a statement on his Truth Social social network, he said that "various countries of the world" had asked the US for help in freeing their ships stuck in the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, Washington plans to escort these countries' vessels, safely guiding them out of the restricted water area.
The White House leader emphasized that the operation, called "Project Freedom," will begin on Monday morning, Middle Eastern time. He described this initiative as a humanitarian step carried out with the participation of the US and Middle Eastern countries, "especially Iran."
Trump also noted that negotiations with Iran are proceeding in a positive spirit, adding that these talks could lead to positive outcomes for all parties.
Shortly after, the head of the Iranian parliament's national security commission, Ibrahim Azizi, announced that any US intervention in the situation in the Strait of Hormuz would be considered a violation of the ceasefire regime.
