In Uzbekistan, an environmental fee may be introduced for cars that have been in production for more than 30 years.
The initial phase will cover passenger cars starting from 2026, and from 2027, it will also be applied to buses, minibuses, and trucks.

In Uzbekistan, a new requirement is planned to be introduced for owners of vehicles that have been in use for more than 30 years.
The draft government resolution, submitted for public discussion, stipulates that owners of such vehicles must pay an annual environmental compensation fee.
According to the document, starting from January 1, 2027, owners of cars that are 30 years or older from the date of manufacture may pay an environmental fee amounting to 30 times the base calculation value. Based on the current base calculation value, this amount is 12.36 million soums. The draft also envisions a gradual restriction on the use of vehicles that do not meet environmental requirements.
In particular, the re-registration of cars falling into the "harmful" environmental category may be prohibited, and they may be deregistered. This procedure will not apply to antique vehicles.
Furthermore, it is planned to gradually establish a system for the disposal of outdated vehicles in the country. The initial phase, starting in 2026, will cover passenger cars, while from 2027 it will also apply to buses, minibuses, and trucks. From 2030, the system is intended to include all types of wheeled vehicles.
According to the draft, citizens who hand over their outdated car for disposal may receive compensation in several forms. Specifically, it is stipulated that they may be paid monetary funds, provided with an electronic voucher for the purchase of a new car, or granted other benefits established by legislation.
Citizens purchasing a new car using an electronic voucher will receive a discount equal to the amount indicated on the voucher. The remaining amount may be formalized with an installment payment plan for a period exceeding one year. Public discussion on the draft resolution will continue until June 28.
