In southern Lebanon, 1,030 shells were fired within one week — UNIFIL

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has warned that the situation in southern Lebanon remains unstable. The Anadolu Agency reported on this.

According to UNIFIL, a total of 1,030 projectile trajectories were recorded in the area between August 21 and 27. This averages out to 147 projectiles per day.

The organization noted that while the level of violence has decreased compared to the period at the beginning of the year, the situation in southern Lebanon remains fragile and unstable.

"Behind these numbers lies the ongoing harm inflicted on civilians: homes and critical infrastructure have been damaged, and people are struggling to restore normal life," the UNIFIL statement said.

The peacekeeping forces stated that they continue to monitor the situation and are cooperating with the parties to prevent any further escalation of tensions.
