Germany's accusation that Russian special services were involved in the drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport has drawn criticism from Lavrov.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accused Germany of "starting a real war" against Russia. He sharply criticized Berlin after the German government accused Russian special services of involvement in a drone attack with explosives at Leipzig/Halle airport.
"Overall, this is, in a big sense, the beginning of a real war. They expelled the consulate general in Bonn... They are closing the Russian House in Berlin. I recall that before the start of the Second World War, or more precisely, the Great Patriotic War, the Germans also closed their diplomatic missions... They want war again," Lavrov said in an interview with Russian state television.
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry also criticized German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Lavrov noted that the Chancellor is acting "to declare war on Russia."
"The lessons of history have not been learned at all. It turns out that the metastases of neo-Nazism are beginning to show themselves. This is a dangerous phenomenon. I think the Russian leadership will draw the appropriate conclusions," he said.
In turn, Merz rejected Moscow's accusations. The German Chancellor stated that the conclusions of the country's special services regarding Russia's involvement in the attack are "very clear, indisputable, and admissible in court."
According to him, German officials deliberately spent nearly four weeks verifying the evidence.
