According to reports, no one had heard from the actor for nearly two days. After that, his girlfriend Özlem Esmergül, with whom he had been living for 8 years, went to his home and found Kılıç motionless in an armchair in the living room. Police and emergency medical personnel were called to the scene.
During the initial examination, no signs of cuts, wounds, or beating were found on the actor's body. His body was sent to the Forensic Medicine Institution and an autopsy was conducted. An investigation into the death is ongoing.
Kılıç's close associates stated that he had health-related issues. However, the exact cause of the actor's death has not yet been officially announced.
On September 7, a farewell ceremony for the actor was held at the Muhsin Ertuğrul stage in Istanbul. His loved ones, friends, and many representatives of the art world attended the event. During the ceremony, Serhat Kılıç's stage career and creative journey were remembered.
