Chechen units will not fight for Iran — Ramzan Kadyrov
Qodirov condemned Iran's attack on countries in the Persian Gulf and emphasized that they have "brotherly" relations with Arab states.

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov announced that Chechen military personnel will not fight on Iran's side in a war against the US and Israel.
He made this statement on April 8 on his Telegram channel in Russian and Arabic, refuting reports circulating on social networks that "Chechen units could be sent to Iran."
Kadyrov emphasized that this could have been the case if Iran were acting only against the US and Israel. However, he criticized Iran for striking targets in the Gulf Arab states.
"This could have been the case if Iran were conducting military operations only against the US and Israel. But they are also attacking our brothers. Without a doubt, I personally support Iran's side, but there is one 'but' — I do not support Iran striking peaceful objects and civilian infrastructure in the Gulf Arab states," said the Chechen leader.
The Chechen leader also noted that he has "brotherly" relations with the leaders of the UAE, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia, expressing dissatisfaction that peaceful civilians are becoming victims in these countries.
Earlier, Kadyrov assessed Iran's strikes on US military bases in the Middle East as an "expected response," but called attacks on civilian objects unacceptable.
For reference, Chechen units are participating in Russia's war against Ukraine. The Security Service of Ukraine reported in 2022 that there is evidence of war crimes against Kadyrov and his close associates.
