Saudi Arabia has imposed strict restrictions on entering Mecca during the Hajj season.
Starting from April 18, 2026, entry to or stay in Mecca is prohibited for all individuals holding visa categories without a Hajj visa.

Saudi Arabia has announced a series of new restrictions and regulations aimed at ensuring the safety of pilgrims and conducting Hajj rituals safely and in an organized manner as part of preparations for the Hajj season.
According to the Saudi Ministry of Interior, starting from April 13, 2026, individuals wishing to enter Mecca must obtain an official permit from the authorized bodies. Entry into the city without a permit is prohibited. Those who can enter Mecca include holders of a residence permit issued in Mecca, holders of a Hajj permit, and individuals with a work permit issued electronically through the "Absher Individuals" and "Muqeem" platforms and integrated with the "Tasreeh" system.
Furthermore, the final departure date for citizens who entered Saudi Arabia with an Umrah visa has been set as April 18, 2026.
According to the Ministry's decision, from April 18, 2026, until May 31, 2026, the issuance of Umrah permits through the "Nusuk" platform will be temporarily suspended for Saudi citizens, citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Arab states, residents, and individuals with other visas.
In addition, starting from April 18, entry into or stay in Mecca is prohibited for all individuals holding visa categories that do not include a Hajj visa.
The Ministry of Interior clarified that in case of non-compliance with these regulations, the penalties stipulated by law will be applied.
For reference, starting from the "Hajj - 2026" season, every pilgrim traveling for Hajj will be required to provide an official medical health certificate. This certificate must be verified through Saudi Arabia's official "Nusuk" platform.
