The authority to install radars should lie solely with the Ministry of Internal Affairs — Alisher Qodirov

Chairman of the "Milliy tiklanish" Democratic Party, Alisher Qodirov, stated that the practice of installing radars on roads in cooperation with entrepreneurs has not justified itself.

According to him, the main goal of speed control should not be to collect money through fines, but to prevent road traffic accidents and maintain order on the roads.

Qodirov noted that a request was sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs regarding the effectiveness of installing radars in cooperation with entrepreneurs, but in response, the main issue highlighted was how much money had been collected into the budget.

"We should not approach this matter in such a way. Because the goal should not be to collect money. The goal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs should be to prevent road traffic accidents and maintain order on the road," he said.

The deputy emphasized that drivers' objections regarding the radars are increasing. In his opinion, since the main goal of entrepreneurs is to generate income, in some cases, situations arise that encourage drivers to commit violations.

Furthermore, Qodirov stated that the authority to install radars for preventing traffic accidents should rest solely with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and that cooperation with the private sector on this matter has not yielded the expected results.

Earlier, Deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Davron Aripov, also stated that the radars recording traffic violations have fallen into the hands of the private sector and have now become a source of income.
