Due to cameras and photo radars, traffic accidents have decreased — Ministry of Internal Affairs
The Ministry of Internal Affairs responded to a deputy's inquiry regarding cameras and radars.

At the meeting of the Legislative Chamber on May 19, the Minister of Internal Affairs' response to a parliamentary inquiry regarding "The effectiveness of photo and video recording technical devices on roads and the introduction of information technologies in the field of road traffic" was reviewed.
At the end of April, based on objections raised by citizens during meetings of Legislative Chamber deputies in their electoral districts, including appeals about photo and video recording systems, the operation of mobile radars, and non-compliance with standards in installing artificial road bumps, a parliamentary inquiry was sent to the minister.
The inquiry requested information on measures being taken regarding the development of road infrastructure, the condition of road markings and signs, the effectiveness of photo and video recording systems, as well as illegal artificial obstacles and improperly installed devices.
According to information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs presented at the meeting, 978.3 billion soums were allocated to projects for developing road infrastructure and implementing technical devices during 2022–2025. During this period, 78,844 road signs were installed, 49,380 were updated, 1,081 traffic light facilities were built, and 20.7 million square meters of road markings were painted.
Currently, 5,425 photo and video recording devices are operating across the country. It was stated that their placement is carried out based on analysis of road traffic accidents, traffic intensity, infrastructure condition, pedestrian and vehicle flow, as well as citizen appeals.
According to official data, the number of road traffic accidents in the first four months of this year decreased by 17.7 percent compared to the same period last year.
Additionally, as a result of inspections, 132 restrictive road signs and 202 stopping and parking signs were removed, and 203 illegal obstacles and 308 artificial road bumps were eliminated.
At the meeting, deputies emphasized the need to further improve road infrastructure, prevent errors in photo and video recording systems, and accelerate efforts to eliminate illegally installed obstacles.
At the end of the meeting, it was noted that parliamentary oversight in this direction would continue, and the Minister of Internal Affairs' response was received for information.
Earlier, Chairman of the "Milliy tiklanish" Democratic Party, Alisher Qodirov, stated that the practice of installing radars on roads in cooperation with entrepreneurs had not justified itself and emphasized that the authority to install radars should belong solely to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
