President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the Chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, Mufti Nuriddin Khaliqnazar, on May 21. The president's press service reported this.
The conversation took place on the eve of Eid al-Adha and during the days when Uzbek pilgrims are performing the Hajj rites. Through the mufti, the president congratulated all pilgrims in the holy city of Mecca on Eid al-Adha and wished that their prayers for the peace of the country, the well-being of the people, and the happiness of the youth would be answered.
During the dialogue, it was noted that in recent years, more than 15,000 citizens have been sent on the Hajj pilgrimage annually in New Uzbekistan. It was emphasized that this year, for the first time, 100 citizens, including labor veterans, their family members, neighborhood activists, elderly people, and representatives of low-income families, were sent on the Hajj pilgrimage at the expense of the state.
The head of state inquired about the health, mood, and conditions created for the pilgrims to perform their rituals. Mufti Nuriddin Khaliqnazar stated that all necessary conditions have been created for pilgrims in the cities of Mecca and Medina, and organizational work is being carried out in an orderly manner.
He also noted that the pilgrims, while at the holy sites, are praying for the peace of the country and the well-being of the people.
During the conversation, it was emphasized that the reforms being implemented in the religious and educational sphere in the country are having a positive impact on the spirituality of society. In particular, it was stated that sites such as the Imam Bukhari Complex, the Center for Islamic Civilization, and the Burhaniddin Margilani Scientific, Educational, and Tourism Complex serve to widely promote the heritage of ancestors.
According to the report, a Presidential Decree was adopted the day before regarding the widespread celebration of Eid al-Adha in Uzbekistan. According to the decree, it is planned to hold charity and kindness events, support the needy population, perform complex surgical operations on more than 10,000 children, and allocate additional funds for the treatment of nearly 2,000 citizens suffering from serious illnesses. Separate resources will also be allocated for the improvement of mosques and cemeteries.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed confidence that upon returning home, the pilgrims will serve as an example in promoting Islamic enlightenment and healthy faith among young people, and in strengthening the atmosphere of kindness and solidarity in neighborhoods.
At the end of the conversation, the head of state sent greetings to all pilgrims, wishing that their prayers be accepted and that they return to the Motherland safely.
