President expressed condolences on the death of Ibrahim Gafurov.
Ibrohim G‘afurov has been awarded the title of "Hero of Uzbekistan," the honorary title of "Honored Artist of the Republic of Uzbekistan," as well as the "Friendship" and "Labor Glory" orders.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed condolences on the death of Ibrahim Gafurov, an outstanding literary scholar, writer, translator, public figure, and Hero of Uzbekistan, who made a huge contribution to the development of national literature and culture [expressed condolences].
Ibrahim Gafurov was born on December 27, 1937, in Tashkent. He graduated from Tashkent State University (now the National University of Uzbekistan) with a degree in philology. The scholar began his career as an editor at the State Publishing House of Fiction and later held responsible positions at the Gafur Gulyam Publishing House of Literature and Art.
For many years, he held leadership positions in the newspapers "Uzbekistan Literature and Art" and "National Revival," and also taught students at the National University of Uzbekistan and the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages.
Ibrahim Gafurov was also active in political and public activities, serving as Chairman of the Central Council of the Uzbekistan National Revival Democratic Party, a deputy of the Oliy Majlis, and Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Press and Information.
The literary scholar is known as the author of numerous scientific articles, books, and pamphlets dedicated to pressing issues of Uzbek literature. He also translated works of world literature figures such as Fyodor Dostoevsky, Ernest Hemingway, Gabriel García Márquez, James Joyce, and Chingiz Aitmatov into Uzbek.
Ibrahim Gafurov's contribution to the development of science, literature, and culture was highly appreciated by the state. He was awarded the title of "Hero of Uzbekistan," the honorary title of "Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Uzbekistan," as well as the "Friendship" and "Labor Glory" orders.
The condolence message emphasized that the bright memory of Ibrahim Gafurov will forever remain in the hearts of the people.
