President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Karankevich on July 20 [link].

 

At the beginning of the meeting, the high-ranking guest conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to the head of state.

 

Current issues of further expanding strategic partnership relations between Uzbekistan and Belarus were considered.

 

It was noted with satisfaction that the official visit of the leader of Uzbekistan to the city of Minsk on July 8-9 this year has yielded effective results, primarily in the trade and economic sphere.

 

The importance of timely implementation of the action plan adopted to increase the volume of trade turnover to 2 billion dollars and promote cooperation projects in priority sectors of the economy was emphasized.

 

Special attention was paid to issues of using Belarusian experience in building the first nuclear power plant and related infrastructure in Uzbekistan.

 

These include expert support for the processes of designing, constructing, and operating the future nuclear power plant, training national personnel for the sector, and establishing joint programs between relevant higher education institutions.
