A new bridge connecting the "Junariq" and "Yuqori Darxon" mahallas in the Sergeli district of Tashkent has been put into operation. The capital's administration reported this.
Previously, residents of this area, including schoolchildren, had been using pipes to cross the canal. This posed a danger to them.
This issue was criticized at a videoconference meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in March 2026.
The President noted that the appeal regarding the bridge over the "Junariq" canal had not been resolved for two months, that officials had given a superficial response, and that the problem was only resolved after it went viral on social media.
The new bridge, 28 meters long and 8 meters wide, can carry loads of up to 80 tons. The structure ensures safe passage between the mahallas and educational institutions located on both sides of the canal.
