Alireza Arafi has been appointed as the interim leader of Iran.
According to the information, he was considered one of Khomeini's trusted representatives.

A temporary governing system has been launched in Iran. The 67-year-old influential cleric Alireza Arafi has been appointed as a member of the three-person governing council and has been tasked with temporarily performing the duties of the Supreme Leader.
This council has been formed in accordance with the Iranian Constitution and will exercise the powers of the head of state until a new supreme leader is elected by the Assembly of Experts. The council includes Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Judiciary Chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, and Alireza Arafi.
Alireza Arafi is known as a figure with extensive experience in Iran's religious-political system. He has served as the Deputy Chairman of the Assembly of Experts, a member of the Guardian Council, and the head of the country's religious education system. He has also led one of the major religious centers in the city of Qom—the seminary system—and has worked in international Islamic educational institutions. Arafi was considered one of the trusted representatives of the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
As the Supreme Leader in Iran holds broad authority over the military, security forces, and strategic decisions, any changes surrounding this position directly impact both domestic and foreign policy.
Currently, the Assembly of Experts is expected to begin the process of electing a new supreme leader. Until then, the three-person governing council will carry out the task of ensuring constitutional governance and maintaining the stability of the political system in the country.
