President Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in a ceremony at the "Bunyodkor" stadium in Tashkent to see off the Uzbekistan national football team to the World Cup and addressed the athletes and fans.

The head of state congratulated everyone on the great football festival ahead of the World Cup hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada, emphasizing that this day marks an important page in the history of Uzbek football.

The President acknowledged the historic achievement of the national team and expressed gratitude to the players, their parents, teachers and coaches, and all members of the team.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev particularly noted the fans' loyalty and support for the team, calling them a true example of patriotism.

"Your love and devotion to the national team deserve every praise," said the head of state.

The President also touched upon the activities of fan clubs at the stadium, noting that they serve as the "twelfth player" in every match.

"Members of fan clubs are worthily fulfilling the role of the twelfth player in every game with their truly Uzbek, unique style. I am confident that at the World Cup, together with thousands of our compatriots and fellow citizens abroad, they will support our players with the same energy and cheers as now," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The head of state noted that football has already become a friend to every family in Uzbekistan, citing the increasing number of fans coming to the stadium with their children and grandchildren. The President expressed confidence that the younger generation, inspired by the athletes' achievements, will produce new champions in the future.

During the speech, information was also provided about ongoing projects to develop sports infrastructure in the country.

It was noted that last year, a modern Olympic village covering over 100 hectares, including five major sports complexes, was commissioned in Tashkent.

Additionally, construction continues in the New Tashkent area of a new stadium fully meeting FIFA standards, with a capacity of 55,000 spectators.

According to the President, this arena will be a great gift for millions of football fans and will expand opportunities for hosting prestigious international sports competitions in Uzbekistan.
