Germany and Ukraine have developed a combat robot: it can fight on the front line instead of soldiers
The first samples of the equipment are planned to be delivered to the Ukrainian army by the end of the year.

German and Ukrainian companies have successfully integrated the unmanned GEREON robotic tank with the remotely controlled SABER weapon module. The first samples of the new robotic equipment are planned to be delivered to the Ukrainian army by the end of 2026. This was reported by Euronews.
The project is being implemented in cooperation between the German company ARX Robotics and the Ukrainian company ROBONEERS. The cooperation agreement was signed on October 4 during German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's visit to Kyiv, with the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The tracked GEREON platform performs tasks of movement, power supply, and reconnaissance using cameras and sensors. The SABER module installed on it can be equipped with various weapons. This gives the military the ability to conduct combat operations remotely.
GEREON robots are being used in Ukraine for tasks such as transporting ammunition and other cargo, evacuating the wounded, jamming radio communications, and countering enemy drones. The platform can be reconfigured depending on the task to be performed. The SABER module is equipped with weapons such as rifles and grenade launchers.
The companies are also expanding production of the transport robot called Rys Pro. A joint venture has been established for this purpose. During the first year, it is planned to produce and deliver more than 1,000 such robots in Germany and Ukraine.
At the same time, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius is visiting the Helsing technology company in Munich. During the visit, the company's new developments and capabilities in the field of artificial intelligence are expected to be presented.
Founded in 2021, Helsing develops artificial intelligence and software for the defense industry. The company equips military equipment such as tanks, submarines, and combat aircraft with artificial intelligence systems.
Among its main customers are the German armed forces — the Bundeswehr — as well as France and the United Kingdom. Drones such as the HX-2 produced by Helsing and artificial intelligence systems are also being used in Ukraine.
